Album News: Annie - Don't Stop delayed

Annie's follow-up to Anniemal, which was a highly anticipated album here, has now been pushed back to 2009 to allow further work to be done on it. Rumour has it that it was just so-so in its present incarnation. So hopefully it will be much improved when it is finally released next year.

The new release date is April 6th, 2009.

I like posting album covers. I like album covers in general. My Vista slideshow is only album covers. I save any I download into a folder, just for the slideshow. Yeah. I'm sad. But it's better than 40 pictures of the Eiffel Tower, right?

Anyhow, that above is the album cover for Annie's new album Don't Stop. And before you ask, yes it's out there. But no, I don't have a download. Finding stuff online isn't that hard, you know.

Annie's brand-spanking new website is up and running at http://www.anniemusic.co.uk She has posted a nice little intro to get the site up and running and has this to say about her new single, 'I Know UR Girlfriend Hates Me':
"This was actually one of the first songs I wrote for this album. I had a period of time where I was listening a lot to Prince... and I had this idea about making a song where the drums and the guitar would be a little bit like 'Kiss'. Of course it ended being nothing like Prince...but that's where the inspiration came from. A bit snappy....and ruuuude:-)

"I'm not gonna tell the whole story about the lyrics, cuz I like to keep a little bit to the imagination of the listeners...but it's based on a true story. I have a friend of mine that is a very beautiful attractive, funny smart girl....she's always surrounded by loads of guys....but one of the guys had a girlfriend that was not too happy with the situation...and rang her door saying 'you better leave my boy alone girl......or I'll break you'...

"I've been going through something similar myself, so I thought, hmm.... seems to me like a lot of people relate to situations like that...... I'll write a song about it."

Album News: Annie - new 7" 'I Know UR Girlfriend Hates Me'

While not quite Album News, per se, anything new from Annie is always special. Her new album Don't Stop is due to be released later this year, and there has been rumours of some sort of collaboration with fellow Swede-popster Robyn. Maybe they should start a side-project called Turnip! I'm so clever sometimes...

Annie-how, on the 14th of July, Annie's new single 'I Know UR Girlfriend Hates Me' is being released as a sweet little seven inch single. Annie is due to play Glastonbury this weekend, and if I was going, she is someone I definitely would be checking out.

In an interview with NME Magazine this week, Annie said that if her new album was an animal it would be called Don't Stop The Pig, sounds fabulously like a Dave Matthews Band song. She also indicated that Alex Kapranos (him from Franz Ferdinand) plays lead guitar on 'My Love is Better' and 'Loco'
