A very young Bob Dylan heard Richie Havens play 'All Along the Watchtower' in a club in Grenwich Village and asked him for the words - so although Bob recoreded and claims it - he didn't originally write it - neither did Havens by the way - someone else - an unkown did......!!!! - this info came direct from Richie Havens himself at his gig in the halfmoon club in Cork 3 years ago.

that being the case one can only come to the conclusion that Richie Havens is full of shit

Was looking forward to revisiting my old mid-70's stompin ground of Cork and seeing the legend that is NY in the flesh. You'd want to have been in a coma back then in Cork not to have heard of NY. What a mesmerising perfomance we experienced at the Marquee..6 days on I'm still suspended 'tween here and the moon, looking down in pity at those who were not there. Even my trendy, modern-day, 27yr old daughter who tagged along to keep an eye on her 'Old man' was impressed..Long may you Run Neil.
PS to daughter(s) Hurry on and give me grandkids dears so I can tell 'em 'bout this!
