Cancelled: Mika Tuesday Olympia Theatre

Mika has cancelled his second date at the Olympia Theatre. He was due to play next Tuesday, the 16th, but now will only be playing one of two scheduled shows.

Here is the (terrible) excuse he gave:
"I am thrilled and honoured to be nominated for best Male at the Brits. I’m really sorry to cancel the second Dublin sow but I have to take this opportunity to attend the awards. I apologise to all my Irish fans that I can’t see on the 16th, but I am looking forward to being in Dublin on the 15th."

There's still tickets available for Monday, and you can exchange Tuesday's for them, or alternatively get a full refund from point of purchase.

There's more chance of me winning than Mika. Granted, nobody in his category is any great shakes, but Calvin Harris, Dizzee Rascal, Paolo Nutini, and Robbie Williams are all better options. This year, they should've just had two Best Female categories.

Cancelled: Drop Haiti's Debt

Press release just came in the post. Would've been a great gig, but the second paragraph more than makes up for it...

"Due to unavoidable circumstances the Drop Haiti's Debt gig this Thursday in Vicar Street has been cancelled. A full refund for tickets purchased is available from the point of purchase.

On a hugely positive note, at the G7 summit in Canada last weekend, world leaders indicated they are prepared to drop Haiti's debt in its entirety in the imminent future. Full information on the status of Haiti's debt will be posted on trocaire.org shortly."

Cancelled: Elton John at the O2 Fully cancelled

Elton John's postponed gig has now been fully (and officially) cancelled. Thus there won't be a new date in December as expected. You can get a full refund on your tickets at point of purchase.

Elton was meant to be playing the O2 on October 30th, but cancelled due to illness.

Boo. Elton John is sick, and has thus postponed his O2 show tomorrow night. He was meant to be playing in Dublin on Friday October 30th, but he has the flu.

A press release states:
"He is bitterly disappointed not to playing Dublin, he had picked Dublin to close the Red Piano worldwide, because of the great warmth of the people and the great concerts he had in the city over many years, he is hoping to reschedule the dates in the very near future".

A rescheduled concert will take place in December (hopefully), and tickets for tomorrow night's show will still be valid. Alternatively, you may bring them back to ticketmaster or place of purchase for a full refund.

Cancelled: Future of the Left at the Academy

Luckily I hadn't chosen a winner for my first ever contest, but unluckily it's been postponed until September. Future of the Left have had to reschedule their Academy date which was set for this Sunday. This is unfortunate, but tickets for the original date will still be valid for the new date.

No info as yet on when exactly it will be, but I'll let you know as soon as I know.

Also, now you have an extra few months to enter the competition!

Postponed: Fujiya and Miyagi at Tripod

Bad news F&M fans (not S& M fans, they're a totally different bunch. Much sweatier too). Fujiya & Miyagi have postponed their Academy gig. It was due to take place this Friday (April 3rd), but will now take place in June. The 20th to be exact. Original tickets will be still valid.

Cancelled: Scooter at the RDS

Bad news dance fans. Scooter have cancelled their three Irish shows, in Castlebar, Killarney and Dublin. The reason for the cancellation is "unforseen circumstances", or "unknown unknowns" or somesuch. Anyhow, they promise to return in autumn or winter.

Cancelled: Jay Reatard Again

Lauren and Jim with the 4-1-1 here on Jay Reatard once again cancelling an Irish appearance. Will he ever come across the pond to us? It makes me want to take his album out of my upcoming top 50 (or 60 or 70 I haven't decided yet) list.

Well, not excellent cancelled, but postponed. Sara Bareilles November 24th gig has been postponed til next May due to... actually, MCD gave me no info why. Howandever, no fixed date has been confirmed, so you'll have to get a refund.

Cancelled: Randy Newman at Vicar Street

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo! Not one, but two Randy Newman shows have been cancelled. They were due to take place next week, but due to illness Randy has been forced to cut his European tour short. He claims he'll be back, but I'm just saddened by this. I was so looking forward to it.

No definite dates have been re-announced, so you'll have to get a refund on your tickets. These are available from point of purchase.

Cancelled: The Human League at TriPod

Bad news if you were planning to go to TriPod to see the Human League. They've pulled out due to "technical difficulties" (isn't that RTE's excuse?)

Good news, however, if you had intended to go to see Heaven 17 and ABC. They are still due to play, and no doubt will go on longer. Also, tickets have gone down in price by twenty euro. Whoever said "we get nothing for free"? You will be entitled to a cash refund at the gig, or else you can get a full refund from place of purchase if you decide not to go.

Cancelled: My Morning Jacket at Tripod

First, it was moved to a new venue, but now it's been cancelled altogether. My Morning Jacket have pulled out of their European tour due to Jim James's recent injury. Valid excuse, he's no Janet Jackson. Same initials though.

Don't worry though, Seasick Steve and the rest are still due to play.

Cancelled: Orchestra Baobob

Orchestra Baobob's Vicar Street gig, originally intended for October 18th has been canceled. Not postponed, so no rescheduled gig.

Full refunds are available from point of purchase. Although how you put a ticket back into the internet, I don't know. I suppose you could go to an actual ticketmaster outlet...
