Live: Bonnie Prince Billy at Whelan's

Will Oldham, also known as Bonnie 'Prince' Billy will be playing Whelan's in Dublin along with the Cairo Gang on June 28th. The Bonnie Prince will be in town to promote his new album For the Wonder Show of the World. This new album is a much more stripped down album than his previous record, Beware, but stands strongly beside everything else in his catalogue.

Tickets cost €29 and are on sale now.

To announce his upcoming album with the Cairo Gang, Bonnie Prince Billy has posted a Valentine's message an a somewhat-NSFW video through his UK and US labels, Domino and Drag City. The album will be called The Wonder Show of the World, and is due for release on March 22nd. Not a lot more info than that as of yet, but have a look at the video below.

Album News: Be Yourself: A Tribute to Graham Nash's Songs for Beginners

On May 25th, Grassroots will be releasing a tribute album to Graham Nash's 1971 debut album. Nash was a member of the Hollies, and more famously Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, but his solo material is definitely worth checking out if you haven't heard it before. The album will be called Be Yourself: A Tribute to Graham Nash's Songs for Beginners, and features a whole host of splendid artists covering Nash's originals.

Bonny Prince Billy, Robin Pecknold (of Fleet Foxes) and Brendan Benson's takes on Nash should all be interesting. Here's the full tracklist.

Album Cover: Bonnie Prince Billy - Beware

Bonnie Prince Billy - Beware album cover art

Forget about that Animal Collective record, the cover album for Will Oldham's upcoming album (due out in March) is up there with Morrissey's for album cover of the year. It's bloody amazing. It's like a cooler American Recordings.

Album News: Bonnie Prince Billy - Is It The Sea?

Not only will we get the excellent Lie Down in the Light from Bonnie Prince Billy Will Oldham this year, but he's also announced the release of a Live LP, Is It The Sea?

The show was recorded in Scotland in 2006. It will be released in the UK on October 20th, so you should see it in about six different shops in Ireland on the 17th! Somehow I don't expect it to go straight to number 1 either. Damn Chris Brown and his rubbish!

Tracklist is as follows:
01 Minor Place
02 Love Comes to Me
03 Bed Is for Sleeping
04 Arise Therefore
05 Wolf Among Wolves
06 Ain't You Wealthy, Ain't You Wise?
07 Cursed Sleep
08 Molly Bawn
09 Birch Ballad
10 New Partner
11 Is It the Sea?
12 My Home Is the Sea
13 Master and Everyone

Here's a clip of 'Cursed Sleep' from that same 2006 tour (also in Scotland):
