While I'm not the biggest Killers fan (I thought they were awful when they played Oxegen a few years back - the year before the headlined it, I think), I can appreciate the music they make and Brandon Flowers' swagger as a frontman. Thus my ears pricked up a little when I heard news of his debut solo album. The biggest selling point for me though is the fact that it's being produced by legendary Daniel Lanois (who worked on some of U2's finest records as well as having an impressive if underrated solo career). Pop producer Brendan O'Brian is also on board, so it should be a great pop-rock record.

The Killers live album/DVD is out in a few weeks time and to promote it, they've released a trailer for Live from the Royal Albert Hall, recorded on July 5th and 6th of this year. So if you were disappointed to have missed them at Oxegen, then this may be for you!

The Killers brought Oxegen 2009 to a close on Sunday night on the Main Stage. They played a nice little acoustic 'Smile Like You Mean It', but as I've said before, they're not headline material. They're much more a studio band than a live band. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds would've been a much better headliner.

Everytime I go to type O2, I keep going to type zero-two. Strange. Don't think I'll ever get used to it.
The Killers play the O2 on February 20th, 2009 (perfect Christmas present for your other half - tickets to this). They also play Dublin's Odyssey the following night.
Tickets for the southern gig cost €50.80 (so Christmas will be costing €101.60 this year), and £38 up north. They go on sale this Friday at 9am. Expect them to sell quickly.

The Killers' third album proper is released at the end of next month. Perfect timing for Christmas (a gift for your sister most likely). Not major news, but by now you've probably heard the first single. It's not the "stripped down" thing they were promising, but we've still 9 other tracks to hear.

The second of their two-night Dublin stint was a much bigger affair, with an all-guns blazing show at Marlay Park. Granted the gig itself was only 70 minutes in length, but when a band only has two albums proper, you shouldn't expect much longer.

A nice little warm-up for their Marley Park gig tonight. Save journeys to anyone who's going. Last night's show was more intimate than usual and the band played a storm to the adoring fans lucky enough to snatch tickets.

What a horrible album title, but whether you like it or not, that's what we're stuck with. The name Day and Age is taken from the song 'Neon Tiger' (not Neon Neon, Neon Bible, or the wondeful Neon Golden).

Expect these songs to be more honed and polished when you finally hear them on the album later this year. And also expect to hear them at Marley Park in a few weeks' time.
I hope you haven't spent 70-something quid on the Killers at Marley Park, but if you have, say "hi" to my girlfriend. She's the sexy one.
Ah no, if you've bought tickets for the Marley park gig, you'll also get to see Bloc Party, who released a splendid album a couple of years ago. And hopefully they'll play a good tune or two from the new record (not that 'Mercury' nonsense).
The night before they play Marley Park, however, the Killers will play a special intimate gig at The Academy - that's August 20th, so pretty damn soon. Tickets are €44.20 and go on sale this Friday, August 1st.
Expect to hear new songs from their as-yet-unnamed upcoming album, of which two 'Spaceman' (not a Babylon Zoo cover) and 'Neon Tiger' made their debuts in Las Vegas last night.
